OUR MISSION

House of J is dedicated to fostering stronger individuals and a stronger community through mentorship, wellness, and the shared appreciation of boxing-inspired fitness. We provide a welcoming environment for people of all ages and abilities, including youth and individuals with special needs, to build confidence, resilience, and life skills. Our community emphasizes respect, encouragement, and healthy living, supporting members as they grow both physically and personally.

WHERE ARE WE INVOLVED

House of J is committed to showing up for our community. From supporting local initiatives at the Harrison Museum of African American Culture to participating in events at Melrose Plaza, our members are active, present, and ready to contribute.

We volunteer, give back, and work together to make a positive difference wherever it’s needed.

As House of J continues to grow, our connection to the Roanoke community will only deepen.

This is just the beginning of the impact we hope to inspire.

TESTIMONIALS FROM THE HARRISON MUSEUM

EB Smith | Director

Balance. Purpose. Service. Discipline. The practice of any martial pursuit requires a mastery of one's mind, heart, and relationships. The House of J instills in its students a profound intellectual and emotional curiosity, resulting in some of the most exceptional young people I have had the pleasure of meeting. I'm grateful for the positive impact this organization makes and look forward to seeing its growth.

The House of J will always have a very special place in my heart. I love working with young people, but it's even more dynamic to see young people's actions at work and seeing these young bricklayers.
Giving of themselves, giving their talents, is such a gift. Working down here at the Harrison Museum of African American Culture, just warmed my heart when I walked in one day and I saw all these young people, diligently working; painting, constructing, helping one another. That to me symbolized what it means to invest in our young people and to see them freely giving back, and with that I will always be appreciative and love, love, love seeing our youth in action! Blessings & peace and love always, thank you for the great work you do.
